Canada 3, USA 5

Canada-USA is always a good game; something like two brothers duking it out. National hockey-pride on the line, some of the NHL’s top players, often from the same team facing each other. Can’t get much better than that.
We got tons of chances, but Ryan Miller stopped damn-near everything, and for a good chunk of the game we couldn’t even get past the defence to get a shot on net. Rafalski buried us with goals, and the cherry on top for USA was Kesler putting in a diving one-handed shot in our empty net to seal our coffin.
Canada still has a chance at a gold medal (in the only Olympic event that really matters to us, tbh), but our positioning is now a little worse. We face Germany next to qualify for the playoffs, which should be a much easier game than last night’s, but still not a blowout or anything like that. Still lots of hockey to be played and I’m looking forward to Canada most likely taking a shot at Gold. We’d better win, it is our own game on our own turf after all!

Poker is a little bittersweet right now. I’m putting in lots of hands, but at the same time I’m running pretty bad ON TOP of running well in AIEV. It’s a little worrying, but tbh I think I’m just running bad overall, with a handful of tilt-induced mistakes here and there for stacks.
I think I’m on pace for my required 34k hands this month, but feel there’s been a lack of self-analysis and review that’s hindering my success a bit. The structure in my life still isn’t as organized as I’d like, so that’s something to work on as well.
Gotta get my lazy ass awake earlier in the morning, get some breakfast and review the past day’s big hands, get 2k hands in, then the rest of the day is open for more grinding or personal stuff.
Old readers might remember a significant time constraint for me was that I had to take care of my grandma several days a week, and during that time I couldn’t really grind. Since then, the number of days I was watching her dropped since the other side of my family was helping out quite a bit, and we now have a health worker coming in to watch her instead, so I have tons more time on my hands.
I’ve said this before, but it’s time to buckle down. No more fucking around.

Glad to hear you got some help taking care of your grandmother. I know it was a lot on you there for a while.
